    Theme
    Some themes in section 1 are:
    • Love
    • Teenage Angst
    • Intellectuality
    How they are revealed:
    • Love-Adrian finds love for a classmate, Pandora
    • Teenage angst-Adrian becomes depressed, and his “spots” continue to grow
    • Intellectuality-Adrian believes he is an undiscovered intellectual
    • Theme has a mixture of new and old ideas


    Style
    • Style is simple
    • There is some humor and satire
    • Not many devices
    • Not much dialogue
    • Dialogue not a big part of book

    Setting
    • Setting in England
    • Setting not big part of book
    • The setting doesn’t impact the characters
    • No scenic effect


    Plot
    • Not much introduction
    • Events are not linear
    • No suspense or climax so far
    • Not much mystery
    • Plot is somewhat complicated
    • Plot is basically just made of sub-plots
    • Plot is primary, characters are secondary

    Characters
    • Most characters are not yet 3-D
    • Author doesn’t portray characters well
    • Adrian is starting to develop as a character
